A New Queen

I had to brag a lot yesterday because it was 83 degrees at my house. Guess what? I cleaned house and made a card and didn't even go outside... until after dark... and it was gorgeous...a ton of sunshine. I must be crazy. Today will be 59 degrees so I've missed out. But, the robins are showing up and that is a great sign. I love when they come because I know Spring is on the way. Of course, that means tornado weather but I'll enjoy what I can.

I'm playing along with the Splitcoaststampers Queen for the Day challenge #101. The new queen is Patricia aka kokirose and she has a super gallery of cards. She does wonderful stitching but you'll notice I have none. My sis gave me a new sewing machine and I never have time to learn to use it. Hope she doesn't want it back...LOL She won't!!! Anyway, this is the card I cased. In't it gorgeous???  I kept Pat's sketch and changed the image, paper, and ribbon. I used die cuts for the greenery instead of stamping.

My image is from Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company and is called Dogwood Blossoms. I decided to use glossy accents on my blooms and really like it. The paper is MFP, A Heinrich Company premium cardstock in Licorice Whips. My dp is from the scrapbook store with no name on it. The green is from my scraps.

The die I'm using is a Memory Box die called Madera Corner. I die cut and clipped off pieces to use where needed. The ribbon is black gingham check from Offray Ribbon.

Zoo Animals

The CCEE Stampers are showing off our zoo animals this week. Shirley said it is time to get wild and make a card with one of our favorite zoo animals on it. As you can see, I went with the elephant. I love dots and stripes so I paper pieced the elephant with dots and the clouds with stripes. I used some twine from  so he could carry these punched balloons to someone to wish them a happy birthday or whatever occasion.

SCS February Fan Club

I wanted to make a card for the February Fan Club on Splitcoaststampers. The theme is Best Buds-Friends and Flowers.  You should make a card or project with floral themes or themes of sweet friendships. I also used the sketch shown below by Teresa Kline.
I have to confess that this stamp is called Apple Blossom. I don't know if I mentioned it but the local scrapbook store I visit has started carrying LaBlanche Stamps. How happy that makes me!!! I purchased this one over the weekend and  there was no name on the package. I have just now gone on an online search to find out the name of it. I probably wouldn't have used  this color theme had I known what it was before I colored but I like it just the same and will just consider it some wild flower.

Scrappy Frogs Blog Challenge is wanting to see die cuts in their  challenge. I have plenty of those (listed in my recipe below-under accessories).

Lilies

My weekend started really well with a trip to the scrapbook store where I found many new crafting goodies....bought some and left plenty there. Two of the things I bought were a couple of punches to make a lily flower (not used on this card, of course). Maybe I'll get to use it soon.

This pretty, stamped lily is for the Friends of Speedy TV (FOSTV) challenge to use at least three punches. My lily image is from  Mark's Finest Papers, A Heinrich Company  Blessings set. I love it and it is fun to color. This challenge can be found at Home of Speedy TV.

My punches:
  • Martha Stewart Wildflowers border punch
  • Martha Stewart ribbon/bow punch
  • Fiskars Decorative Corner Lever Punch-circles
The paper is Mark's Finest Paper, A Heinrich Company-Premium Heavy White and Florida Peach cardstock
I added 2 green pearls and a rhinestone on the bow.

I found a new challenge I want to enter: Always Crafting--Creative Mondays #2-Anything Goes
Also, The Crazy Challenge #107 is to use a punch or die. I used three punches that I listed above.
